Karthiga Thevaseelan completed her undergraduKarthigaate degree in Civil Engineering at McMaster University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Engineering Design. Karthiga started her career with the City of Toronto working in the Transportation Services Division. Working as a Co-Op student to getting hired full time, Karthiga worked in the public sector for a few years before transitioning into the private sector. Her transition lead to working in the Contract Administration department working on large scale transportation projects across the 400 Highway series as part of MTO. Recently Karthiga has transitioned into working in the Design sector assisting with the detailed design of MTO projects.


Karthiga has been volunteering for the PEO and Scarborough Chapter for more than 5 years. She was a Board of Executive on the PEO Scarborough Chapter for 2 years. In addition to her Chapter contributions Karthiga is an advocate for Women in Engineering and has been involved in various initiatives within the community and PEO. Most notable the 30by30 initiative set out by Engineers Canada and PEO.


Synopsis of the Topic:  The seminar will cover large scale MTO highway projects and provide an overview of current MTO highway detailed design process, as well as a background review of the intent regarding Contract Administration.
