About the Presenter:

Rishi Lukka is a Professional Engineer, and a Graduate Planning Engineer with ARUP's Transportation Consulting group in Toronto.   He graduated in 2007 with an Honours BASc in Systems Design Engineering focused on control systems from the University of Waterloo.  He spent the first 8 years of his career in the Automation Industry, and currently pursuing a Masters in Civil Engineering at Ryerson, following his passion for urban issues.  He has been closely following Toronto transportation and development issues over the last several years.

Synopsis of the Topic: This engaging  presentation will provide a comprehensive introduction to transit planning considerations (both capital and operations) for Toronto and its suburbs.  The presentation will cover an introduction to planning, the urban revolution, and information about the GTHA, before diving into a summary of the status of the policy debate, funding/financing, and finally considerations for building new lines (capital) and operating/maintaining the existing system.
