7:00 p.m. Special Presentation on Engineering Contract: Contracts allocate risk, and each contract is unique. Without a thorough review the risk allocation is unknown. Is liability fairly divided between you and your client? How can you increase the chances that your contract will work for you and not against you? The discussion will be on typical contractual provisions that we see in engineering contracts – what they mean, how good/bad they might be for your liability exposure, and lessons learned from actual cases.

About the Presenters:

1. Shelley Lloyd, B.Sc., J.D., Vice President, Senior Legal Consultant, Aon Risk Solutions  

Ms. Lloyd is a lawyer providing coverage analysis, advocacy and research resources to Aon Risk Solutions’ Claims team.  She is a specialist in management and professional liability risk including D&O, E&O, fidelity, fiduciary liability, trustee liability and regulatory management risk. She has made numerous presentations to Aon’s clients on loss control, professional liability and emerging D&O risks.  Shelley is also the author of Protecting Your Organization, Your Board, Yourself:  What every in-house counsel needs to know about D&O insurance, which was published in the International In-House Counsel Journal. Shelley received an Hon. B.Sc. from the University of Toronto, and her law degree from the State University of New York School of Law.  

2. Maurice Audet, Senior Vice President, Aon Risk Solutions, started his insurance career in 1973 after completing a Masters Degree in Political Science at Simon Fraser University.  Maurice’s activities include designing and implementing risk management solutions for clients in the fields of real estate, construction, engineering and independent power. Maurice is a frequent contributor to seminars related to insurance and insurance law and has authored numerous articles, including a book  addressing many of the issues involved in insuring a construction project.

Scarborough Chapter Board Election 2015

All officers and executives will be elected at the Annual General Meeting. According with the chapter By-Laws, Section 8, the chapter board consists of:

- Four elected officers – Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary

- The immediate Past Chair – not elected

- Four elected executives.
